The Bend-based Bank of the Cascades branches closed Aug. 11, and reopened as First Interstate Bank on Aug. 14, following the acquisition and merger of the two companies.

"The two companies became one underneath the First Interstate Bank umbrella," explained Madras retail bank Manager Kim Pilkington. The Madras branch is located at 1150 SW Highway 97.

During the transition, Pilkington and most of her staff continued in their positions.

"We have three tellers, one manager, and are looking to add a banker," she said. "We are excited to extend a full suite of community banking services to Madras and the surrounding areas."

The staff underwent training to learn new First Interstate procedures. "They took what both banks did well, vetted processes and melded them into one," she said of the merger.

A snapshot of First Interstate Bank's product portfolio includes bank accounts, CDs, consumer loans, mortgages, business loans, credit cards and wealth management services. First Interstate Bank also offers convenience services via its digital banking and mobile banking platforms.

Pilkington said new services being offered include travel cards, gift cards, instant ATM cards, and the ability to assign a PIN number to debit cards at the local branch.

The public is invited to the Madras branch's grand opening and ribbon cutting at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, to celebrate the new branch. Refreshments will be served with the chance to win door prizes.

First Interstate Bank is a community bank with $12.2 billion in assets and 126 locations in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington and Wyoming.
