Legion awards college scholarship
The American Legion Post 60 (retired), of Antelope, awarded Ashwood resident Devin Krasznavolgyi, a graduation scholarship of $1,500, on Dec. 29.
Being a retired post, Post 60 is continuing the scholarship program through the Madras Post 125 for residents of the Antelope area and zip code 97711.
"Congratulations Devin and to the spirit of Post 60," said Post 125 member Mike Williams.
American Legion Post 125 will host a District 5 meeting on Jan. 20, at 12 p.m., at the Jefferson County Senior Center in Madras. All Legion members are invited to attend and provide input.
Post 125 closed out the 2017 holidays by giving temporary lodging and services to four veterans and families locally, and 15 full meals.
Thanks to the Jefferson County Veterans' Service Officers and community input, local veterans were able to honor others through the holidays.
Post 125 also conducted a fall/winter raffle, awarding a Stihl leaf blower, trimmer and table.
"We thank participants for supporting veteran benefit events that fund programs, such as holiday meals and services," Williams said.
