Culver boys up and down at Summit JV tournament
The week wasn't without its low moments, but in winning another game, Culver has already ensured it will finish better than last season.
A 42-40 win over Ridgeview JV last Friday at the Summit JV Tournament gave the Bulldogs their second win of the season, also marking the second time they've beat the Ravens' JV team.
Another close contest was tied with 25 seconds left. Weston Basl again came through in the clutch for Culver, gathering his own miss and putting in a game-winning lay-in. Basl led the Bulldogs with 22 points.
The rest of the tournament, however, Culver struggled mightily.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs were marred by 26 turnovers in a 56-24 loss to Summit JV. As a result of the giveaways, Culver attempted only 29 shots for the game.
Culver also dropped a 66-36 loss to Bend JV Thursday. Fifty-nine points given up through the first three quarters were a season high for the Bulldogs. But, head coach Johnny Wilson praised his bench for outscoring Bend 10-7 in the quarter.
With the return of role players Jamal Ortiz and Kobe Lamb from injuries, the Bulldogs expect to have a deeper rotation moving forward.
