The first half of November made us glad that all the crops were harvested and that the wine was fermenting in the tanks and barrels. The wineries at August Cellars crushed about 175 tons of grapes this year. Some of the juice was still in tanks sitting outside on the crush deck at the end of the month. The vineyards still had their beautiful yellow leaves until close to the end of the month.

We received 3.58 inches of precipitation in November; last year we had 8.51 inches. Our November average is 6.59 inches. Our wettest November was in 2006 with 14.67 inches; our driest was in 1952 with 1.02 inches.

This November was cooler than a year ago. Our average high temperature was 50.8 degrees, compared to last year’s 52.1 degrees, and the average daily low was 38.5 degrees, compared to 41.1 degrees the year prior.
