One driver transported by Life Flight helicopter to a Portland hospital with serious injuries

A four-vehicle crash in Dundee Friday afternoon sent one driver to the hospital and snarled busy coast traffic.

According to a report from the Oregon State Police at about 3 p.m. a 2004 Toyota Camry driven by Conrad L. Harney attempted to pass a 2016 Ford van piloted by Victor D. Scharich of Woodland, Wash., on the paved shoulder of the closed onramp to the Newberg-Dundee bypass. When the two cars collided it caused Scharich's van to swerve into the northbound lane, where it sideswiped a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Casey W. Rock of Denver, then collided head on with a 1995 Toyota Avalon steered by Joshua C. Beagley of Oregon City.

Scharich's van then, the report said, continued southbound and rolled onto the driver's side, while Harney's Camry went off the southbound shoulder and into a ditch, but he pulled through the ditch and parked in a driveway south of the collision.

Scharich was transported to a Portland hospital via Life Flight helicopter with unknown injuries. Harney was uninjured, while Rock and Beagley were treated for minor injuries.
