Coffee Cat under new ownership

Coffee Cat is holding a series of grand opening events this week to announce the downtown café's new ownership, according to an announcement in the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce's newsletter. During the events, which started Monday and continue through Saturday, new owner Tiffany Olea will be giving out free samples and an assortment of other offerings to celebrate from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the store, located at 107 S. College St. An official ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Nov. 3 during a CVCC greeters event.

KeyBank offering scholarship for Latino students

KeyBank has put out a call to high school juniors and seniors of Latino descent to apply for one of two $1,500 scholarships it is offering alongside the county organization Unidos Bridging Community. Using funding from a company organization, foundation and local markets, the KeyBank Latino Scholarship aims to recognize academic success and community involvement from students in each of the bank's market areas, including the branch at 1815 Portland Road. A to Z rings in birthday with giving

A to Z Wineworks celebrated its 15th anniversary last month with a three days of partying and giving, according to a press release from the Newberg-area winery with a Rex Hill tasting room at 30835 N. Highway 99W. With a conclusory "industry bash supporting literacy" Aug. 12 that drew 500 attendees from the wine and hospitality trades, the winery managed to accrue 400 children's books that will be donated the McMinnville-based Yamhill Enrichment Society. In addition, the winery took the opportunity to launch a new "Bubbles" rosé — a portion of the proceeds from which will go to the state's Start Making a Reader Today (SMART) program — as well as other fundraising efforts.
