"The shop was less than 50 feet from the home and was beginning to threaten a second large shop behind it," according to a press release from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue.

Firefighters, the release said, began attacking the shop fire, positioning themselves between the two structures, while another crew gained access through a fence to protect the adjacent shop. Firefighters were successful in preventing the fire from spreading and also salvaged some of the owner's classic cars and valuables, the release said.

Fire crews were assisted by staff from the Dundee Fire Department, city of Newberg public works department and the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office.

An investigation into the cause of the fire continues. The investigator is analyzing burn patterns and conducting interviews with witnesses in order to determine the cause of the blaze.
