Two make dean’s list at Eastern Oregon

Stephanie Butler and Janell Simmons, both of Newberg, were named to the dean’s list at Eastern Oregon for spring term. Qualifying students achieve and maintain a minimum 3.5 grade-point average while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded.

Pacific honors three Newberg students

Three students hailing from Newberg were named to the Forest Grove college’s dean’s list for spring semester. Tyler Gilmore, Johnathan Miller and Hannah Porter were among the 303 Pacific undergrads to earn at least a minimum 3.7 grade-point average and complete 12 graded hours.

Locals named to dean’s list at OSU

Several local students were named to the dean’s list at Oregon State University for the spring term after posting a minimum 3.5 grade-point average while carrying at least 12 graded hours of course work. Among the students from Newberg, several posted perfect 4.0 averages, including senior Megan Bower, junior Paul Duffin, junior Andrew Halstead and junior Jennifer Meissner. Also making the list were: Newberg residents seniors Robert Bain, Lisa Barnard, Kendahl Caminiti, Elise Foster, Cloe Spellman, Sadie Youngquist and Savanna Youngquist; juniors Tyler Oathes; sophomores Anthony Farr, Catherine Mays, Ariel Fritz, Charles Palmer; and post baccalaureate student Brandon Reams.

Sophomore Alvin Yu also earned the honor, as did several students from St. Paul, including seniors Laurie Koch and Taylor Brentano, juniors Jaimee Brentano and Britney Petrjanos, sophomore Kyle Aceves and freshman Samantha Brentano.

Public invited to NHS Golden Gathering

The Newberg High School’s annual gathering of graduates from the 1930s to 1964 will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 10 in the cafeteria at A-dec Inc., 2602 Crestview Drive.

Refreshments will be provided. Donations to cover expenses should be made payable to The Golden Gathering in care of Janise VanFleet, 123 N.W. 25th, McMinn­ville 97128.

Urciel-King receives scholarship

Nena Urciel King, of Dundee, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by Unitus Community Credit Union. Urciel-King is studying social and behavioral studies at George Fox University.
