NHS hosting Tiger Tailgate Sept. 1
Students, families and community members are invited to Newberg High School for a Tiger Tailgate event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Sept. 1 prior to the home football game versus Barlow. The event, coordinated by the Newberg Booster Club and NHS staff, will include food, music and games. Local food carts, including La Cocina Mexican Cuisine and Wiki Wiki Weenie, will be on hand and NHS parent Nate Macy will provide music. Parents and students will have an opportunity to meet NHS staff and administrators in a fun and casual setting prior to the start of the school year. The football game will be a "Blue Out," so attendees are encouraged to deck themselves out in Newberg Blue.
The event will also include a "Stuff the Bus" drive to help stock the new NHS resource room. The top five items needed include sturdy back packs, pens and pencils, note cards, dividers and three-inch binders. The resource room is also accepting donations of new and lightly-used clothes and shoes, non-perishable food items and other school supplies. The bus will be open for donations between 5 and 9 p.m. and families that donate a backpack will receive one free ticket to the game. Students will also be on hand to give tours of the resource room from 6 to 7 p.m. Clothes and school supplies can also be dropped off on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the NHS main office.
