Why would I want a Financial Plan?
For some, planning is getting up in the morning and if it is a good day in the market, they think "Awe! Retire at 70!" Or, if it's a bad day, they think "I will be working till I die."This is NOT planning, this is stumbling through life.Planning is: 1. Determining what you want and can do in retirement. 2. Assigning an estimated cost to those needs/wishes/wants. 3. Deciding at what age you would like to retire. 4. Evaluating what you have today. 5. Realistically looking at how much you can save from now until retirement. 6. Look up the other sources of income such as; Social Security, pensions, etc. With this information you can determine a realistic estimate of where you are with regards to being able to fulfill your retirement desires. If you are on track, GREAT! But most people are not on track and that is where the importance of planning comes in. Deciding what you need to do now and in the years until retirement takes careful thought. Prioritizing your spending NOW to create savings, changing some of your goals, or increasing revenue are all pieces of a plan that you should be focusing on.
