KENT, Wash. — Five Winterhawks scored a goal Friday as Portland won 5-3 at Seattle.

Brendan Burke got the win, making 23 saves, with Portland going 3 for 3 on the penalty kill.

Three of the Hawks' goals came on the power play — Portland had 10 opportunities — and one of the others was the 34th goal of the season by Brendan Leipsic, which gave the visitors a 1-0 lead 6:28 into the game.

Oliver Bjorkstrand's goal pulled Portland into a 2-2 tie late in the first period, and defenseman Shaun MacPherson put the Winterhawks in front 3-2 with his first career goal at 6:55 of the middle period.

Ty Rattie's power-play goal at 17:55 made the score 4-2, and Nic Petan's 36th goal of the season, at 10:52 of the third period and with the man advantage, gave the Hawks a 5-2 edge.

Seattle scored at 18:17.

The Thunderbirds fell to 19-29-3-1.

Portland, 42-7-1-2, will play at 7 p.m. Saturday against Spokane at Memorial Coliseum.
