VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Portland Timbers stunned the Vancouver Whitecaps with a late, short-handed goal Saturday night, earning a 2-2 draw and extending Portland's unbeaten MLS streak to 10 games.

Jose Valencia slotted home a short shot in the 84th minute after fielding a long ball from Will Johnson to tie the score before an announced crowd of 19,823 at BC Place.

Portland was trailing 2-1 when defender Mamadou "Futty" Danso drew a red card when he tackled Vancouver's Camilo Da Silva Sanvezzo as they raced for a ball on a possible breakaway by the Whitecaps.

Camilo opened the scoring in the 24th minute.

Johnson answered in the 52nd minute, but Vancouver's Gershon Koffie responded two minutes later.

Each team had four shots on goal, with Portland leading 16-15 in total shots and 5-3 in corner kicks. Both goalies, Brad Knighton of Vancouver and Donovan Ricketts of Portland, had two saves.
