Portland State's bid for an NCAA tournament berth in women's soccer came down to a shootout Saturday against Weber State.

The Wildcats made their first three penalty kicks, and PSU missed its first three, and that was it.

After going 8-0-1 in the regular season (the tie was against Southern Utah), the No. 1-seeded Vikings beat Northern Colorado 2-0 in the conference tournament semifinals last Thursday, then drew 0-0 through two overtimes with Weber State.

But the No. 3 seed Wildcats -- who were 5-2-2 in regular-season Big Sky play -- prevailed via the PKs at Hillsboro Stadium.
