The Seattle Seahawks failed to clinch the NFC West championship on Sunday, losing 19-17 at rival San Francisco on a late field goal by the 49ers.

Frank Gore's 51-yard run with just less than four minutes to go set up Phil Dawson's winning, 22-yard kick with 26 seconds left at Candlestick Park.

San Francisco improved to 9-4, but still trails the Seahawks (11-2) in the division.

Seattle has locked up a playoff spot, but not the NFC West title.

Dawson had four field goals to help the 49ers deny the Hawks a franchise-best sixth road victory.

The Seahawks play at 10 a.m. PT next Sunday at the New York Giants.

Seattle then ends the regular season with home games Dec. 22 versus Arizona (1 p.m.) and Dec. 29 against St. Louis (1:25 p.m.).
