The Generals beat Lincoln 60-54 Friday night in the first of two regular-season meetings between the Portland Interscholastic League rivals.

Dylan Leonard (20 points), Deiondre Bird (17) and Duarte Papa-Vicente (16) did nearly all the scoring as Grant won for the first time in 10 games and showed signs of life with Bird, their 6-6 All-City wingman, coming back to form after an injury.

Lincoln battled all the way in a tight game played before a good-sized, enthusiatic crowd of supporters from both PIL schools.

"It was loud," Lincoln coach Sean Christensen said. "It was like how I remembered PIL games when I first started coaching here seven years ago."
