Miles is only the second coach in men's basketball history to reach the milestone. He joins Harry Stratham, who is in his 48th season at McKendree University, an NCAA Division II school in Lebanon, Ill.

Miles, in his 43rd season at NAIA Division II OIT, is 1,000-409.

After Saturday's game, Oregon Tech President Chris Maples and Corban President Sheldon Nord presented Miles with the game ball, and "1,000 Win" T-shirts were handed out to the players and team staff members.

The Owls plan to salute Miles with a pregame celebration before Friday's 7:30 p.m. home game against Evergreen State — on Danny Miles Court in Klamath Falls.

Win No. 1,000 came with Kyle Waits scoring 15 points and adding seven rebounds, and with the Oregon Tech defense holding the Warriors to one 3-pointer.

OIT led 48-34 at the half. Corban closed to within 56-46, but a 7-0 Owls run kept the Warriors at bay.

OIT improved to 13-12 this season, with a 6-7 mark in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Corban dropped to 6-16, 2-11.
