The Grant High boys swim team had two individual winners and one relay champion in last weekend's Three Rivers League district meet.

Grant's boys finished second in the TRL standings. Lake Oswego won with 234 points, followed by Grant (203), Oregon City (184), Clackamas (159), Lakeridge (156), Canby (138) and West Linn (123).

For Grant, sophomore Luke Hutchinson won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:50.34. His margin was two seconds over runner-up Liam O'Shea of Lakeridge.

The Generals' Ethan Hanson, a sophomore, took first prize in the 100 breaststroke, clocking 53.50 to edge Lake Oswego soph Edward Kang by .32 of a second.

Hutchinson and Hanson earned berths in the Oregon School Activities Association Class 6A championships Friday and Saturday at Mt. Hood Community College.

The Portland Interscholastic League Generals also are headed to the state meet in the boys 400 free relay. Hanson, Hutchinson, freshman Sam Harquail and senior Julian Smith won that event at the TRL district finals. Their time of 3:21.84 was more than three seconds ahead of No. 2 Lake Oswego.

Grant's 200 medley relay team of Hanson, Harquail, Hutchinson and Smith placed second and qualified for state, as well.

Taking second in individual races for the Generals were Hutchinson in the 200 free, and Smith in the 200 IM. Hanson was third in the 200 IM. Both Smith and Hanson qualified for state in that event.

Smith swam to third place in the 100 free, and Harquail was third in the 100 breaststroke.

In the TRL girls meet, Grant placed fifth. Lakeridge was the winner with 268 points. Then came West Linn (245), Lake Oswego (194 1/2), Clackamas (184), Grant (142), Oregon City (102 1/2) and Canby (62).
