COURTESY: OREGON GOLF ASSOCIATION - MORGANTwo women qualified for the 2017 U.S. Women's Open at a sectional Monday in Woodburn.

Welsh golfer Becky Morgan, 42, of Corvallis and 16-year-old Brooke Seay from San Diego earned spots in the major championship with their play over 36 holes at the OGA Golf Course.

Morgan, a veteran of the LPGA and Ladies European tours, shot 66-70 for an 8-under-par 136 total to lead the field.

Seay had rounds of 69-70 to gain entry to the U.S. Women's Open for the first time.

The first alternate is Muni He of Simi Valley, California. She played in the Open in 2015. Her scorecard Monday showed 72-69—141.

Second alternate Susie Cavanaugh of Corvallis shot 69-73 for a 142 total.

This year's U.S. Women's Open is July 10-16 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Reedsport's Monica Vaughn, recent winner of the NCAA championship for national champ Arizona State, shot 72-73—145.

Among those not far behind were Oregon State's Olivia Benzin (73-74—147) and Portland Sate's Tara Finigan (71-76—147).

Gigi Stoll, a former prep star at Beaverton, had a 74-76—150.
