MONDAY SPORTS NEWS/University of Portland cross-country runner has been named the 2016-17 West Coast Conference Postgraduate Scholarship winner

Anna Farello, a cross-country runner for the University of Portland, is the recipient of the 2016-17 West Coast Conference Postgraduate Scholarship.

Chosen by the Executive and Presidents' Councils, she received her honor at the WCC Honors Ceremony in Redondo Beach, California.FARELLO

Farello, a senior from El Segundo, California, is the ninth Pilot to claim the award. UP distance runner Scott Fauble won it in 2015.

Farello graduated from UP in May with a 3.98 GPA, majoring in psychology and Spanish, while earning a minor in biology.

She was twice voted by her teammates as Most Inspirational and also earned all-WCC honorable mention in her final cross-country season. In 2016, she was a member of the WCC championship team that reached the NCAA meet for the first time in program history.

Farello finished 12th in the WCC race and 28th at the NCAA west regional.

She plans to attend Ball State University for a masters degree in sport and exercise psychology.
