Also in the first, Koty Fallon blooped a single that scored Matt Starcovic, who had doubled.

In the ninth, the Pickles got an insurance run on a safety squeeze bunt single by catcher Andrew Garcia. Runners were on first and third with no outs. It was Garcia's first hit this summer.

Dustin Redish closed, tossing a hitless ninth for his second save.

Marysville scored in the second inning, bunching together three of its four hits.

Clarke and Starcovic each had two hits, and Portland finished with seven.

The Pickles improved to 16-21, while Marysville dropped to 14-24.

The series continues with games Wednesday and Thursday night at Colusa Casino Stadium.
