Tifo points to end-of-season misadventure as team appears up the creek without a paddle

TRIBUNE PHOTO: JOSEPH GALLIVAN - The Timbers tifo versus Houston didn't reckon on the players getting lost at the front third of the pitch Sunday night, as Portland ended its season on a disappointing note. The Portland Timbers crashed out of the MLS Western Conference semifinals on Sunday with a 2-1 home loss to the Houston Dynamo, who defended deeply and efficiently.

Before the game, the Timbers Army hoisted a huge Lewis and Clark-themed tifo (banner) showing the explorers and Sacagawea with Timbers scarves over their faces, in front of the legend "The Path is Long/The Way Unknown/You are the Mapmakers."

But Diego Valeri, Darlington Nagbe and Co. lost their compass, and after 90+8 minutes were sent packing down the tunnel until next season.
