• Enough of the Notre Dames and Dukes, it was time Friday for 17th/21st-ranked Oregon State to get back to padding its overall win total.
The Beavers did just that, improving to 4-2 with a 40-point win over Nevada (3-4) in the Maui Jim Maui Classic at Wailuku, Hawaii.
Four players scored in double figures for OSU, which had lost to Notre Dame (ranked third and fifth) on Nov. 19 and to Duke (No. 12/14) on Nov. 25.
Kat Tudor scored 15 points, Marie Gulich 14, Katie McWilliams 12 and Taylor Kalmer 11. Ten players scored for Oregon State.
Coach Scott Rueck's Beavers will be back on the War Memorial Arena floor at 9 p.m. PT Saturday against Utah State (1-5).
• At Salem, Lewis & Clark dropped its Northwest Conference opener to Willamette, 74-65. A 25-9 third quarter turned the game the Bearcats' way.
Lauren Wood had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Pioneers, but she fouled out in the fourth quarter.
In the preseason coaches poll, L&C and Willamette and Linfield were picked to tie for fifth place.
Overall this season, the Pioneers are 4-3 and the Bearcats are 5-2.
