SUNDAY LOCAL SPORTS NEWS/Mariners' series finale at Minnesota gets postponed; Seattle set to play Kansas City next


• Gretchen Johnson of Portland defeated Portland's Amanda Jacobs on the fourth playoff hole Sunday to win the women's division of the 74th OGA Tournament of Champions at The Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club in Aloha.

Both players finished at 11-over-par 155, Johnson after shooting a 1-over 73 in the final round to Jacobs' 78.

Ellie Slama of Salem and Oregon State was at 157 after a closing 76, and Portlanders Lara Tennant (81) and Samantha Miller (76) tied for fourth at 161.

In the men's division, Blake Seabaugh of Tigard and Oswego Lake Country Club shot a 71 to win with a 1-under 143 total. Robbie Ziegler of Portland was second with a 72 and 145 total.

Pat O'Donnell of Happy Valley won the senior division on the first playoff hole over Tigard's Byron Patton. Both shot 149, O'Donnell with a 73 on Sunday and Patton with a 72. First-round leader Denny Taylor of Gladstone had a 77 and took third at 151.

• The series finale in Minneapolis was postponed because of inclement weather on Sunday. It was very cold with a threat of snow in Minneapolis.

The game will be made up at 4 p.m. Monday, May 14, on what was scheduled to be an off day for the Mariners at the end of a six-game trip to Toronto and Detroit, and on what had been an off day for the Twins upon their return from a 10-day trip.

Seattle opens a series at Kansas City at 5:15 p.m. PT Monday, with Marco Gonzales now scheduled to pitch, followed in the series by Felix Hernandez and James Paxton.
