Hernandez scatters six hits and gives up three runs, while offense scores early; rubber game is at 10 a.m. Wednesday

HERNANDEZFelix Hernandez rebounded from a poor start in his previous outing by scattering six hits and giving up three runs in Seattle's 8-3 win Tuesday at Kansas City.

Hernandez struck out three and walked one in 5 2/3 innings in moving to 2-1.

Jean Segura went 3-for-5 with two RBis and two runs scored and Guillermo Heredia homered.

Facing starter Eric Skoglund, Mitch Haniger's first-inning single put the Mariners up in the first inning, and Segura's second-inning triple plated two more runs, followed by Robinson Cano's RBI double.

Along with Heredia's homer, Kyle Seager later added a two-run double.

Mike Moustakas hit a two-run homer and RBI single against Hernandez.

In his previous start at San Francisco (10-1 loss), King Felix gave up six hits and eight earned runs in four innings.

The Mariners (5-4) and Royals (3-6) play the rubber game at 10 a.m. PT Wednesday, with James Paxton taking the mound opposite Danny Duffy.
