Lindland, Leipsic, Stevens and Brandon all have reason to celebrate this week

May 17, 1970

Matt Lindland (age 48)

He won a silver medal wrestling at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. He later became a pioneer in mixed martial arts in the U.S., as a co-founder of Team Quest. Lindland won a national title wrestling for Clackamas Community College, where he has served as an assistant coach.

May 19, 1994

Brendan Leipsic (age 24)

The former Portland Winterhawks left wing, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is in the NHL Vancouver Canucks organization, and had three goals and six assists in 14 games during the 2017-18 season.

May 19, 1995

Deajah Stevens (age 23)

The former University of Oregon runner was a three-time state sprint champion while in high school in Bayside, N.Y. She helped the Ducks win the 2016 NCAA title at Hayward Field and ran seventh in the Olympics women's 200 meters that year in Rio de Janeiro.

Terrell Brandon (age 48)

The Portland-born, 5-11 point guard was a star for Grant High, the Oregon Ducks and in the NBA. He was the No. 11 overall draft pick, by Cleveland, in 1991. He appeared in two All-Star Games and won the 1997 NBA Sportsmanship Award during his 11-year career.
