Blazers win exhibition finale
The Trail Blazers held off the Sacramento Kings for a 118-115 victory Friday night at Moda Center that ended their NBA exhibition season.
Portland will open the regular season at home against the Los Angeles Lakers at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Seven Blazers scored in double figures, with CJ McCollum getting a team-high 21 points in 29 minutes and reserve center Meyers Leonard notching 17 points (13 in the fourth quarter) to go with nine rebounds.
Sacramento missed a long, but open, 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Leonard was 7 of 8 from the field, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, in 24 minutes.
Also off the bench, Nik Stauskas scored 15 points, and Seth Curry had 10.
The only starter not in double figures in points was Damian Lillard, who had seven points in 29 minutes.
Up front, starting power forward Zach Collins tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes, Jusuf Nurkic had 10 points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes, and Jake Layman had 10 points in 20 minutes.
Injured forward Moe Harkless sat out, but Evan Turner came back from an injury to score seven points in seven minutes. He was 7 of 8 at the free-throw line and 0 of 3 from the field, all on 2-point tries.
The Kings had six scorers in double figures. Buddy Hield and Yogi Ferrell each had 19 points.
Portland finished 3-2 in the exhibition season.
Sacramento dropped to 2-4.
