Driver remains on scene and cooperates with police

A pedestrian has died from his injuries after being struck by a car on the east end of the Hawthorne Bridge on Sunday morning.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of the next of kin. Police have only referred to him as an adult male.

The drive, Floyd Davidson, 70, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Police say he was not impaired and speed was not a factor.

According to police, 9:10 a.m. on Oct. 28, Central Precinct officers responded to a call of a adult male pedestrian struck by a car on the east end of the Hawthorne Bridge.

Portland Fire & Rescue paramedics and an AMR ambulance were called to the scene. The man was transported to an area hospital with what appeared to be life threatening injuries. he later died.

The Traffic Division Major Crash Team is conducting the investigation.
