More than 100 artists and craftspeople will show their wares at the 23rd annual Buckman Art Show & Sell, set for Feb. 1 and 2.

The popular event is a fundraiser for Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School, whic h relies on community support for its arts-integrated curriculum. The Southeast Portland school is open to neighborhood students and students who enroll through the district-wide lottery.

The sale will feature 140-plus booths with paintings, ceramics, sculptures, photography, prints, collage, mosaics, fabric and paper arts, textiles, fashion accessories, jewelry and toys created by both established veterans and newly emerging talents in the Northwest art world.

A separate gallery, filling the hallways of the school, will showcase the work of Buckman students and young alumni. Participating artists, who were selected by a jury of artists and community members, donate a percentage of their proceeds to Buckman’s PTA.

Other highlights include singer Little Sue, Sarah Maier and the Keys to Life Faculty Band, all-female saxophone quartet the Quadrophonnes, and Balkan folk ensemble Trio Tsuica. The Buckman Marimba Ensemble, Buckman Chorus and Buckman student dance groups will perform.

Free, supervised childcare is available in the children’s art area for kids 4 and older.

And a variety of food carts will set up shop outside: Bro-Dogs, Taco Pedaler, CoolCity KettleCorn & Co., Emoo Coffee and others.

The Art Show & Sell began 1991 as a way to support Buckman and provide exposure to artists in the community.
