Zipcar is adding the Honda Fit EV to its Portland fleet.

The new battery-powered electric vehicles will be at the Portland State University campus at Parking Structure 1 with charging stations by ECOtality.

“The new EVs add to the selection of smart and sustainable vehicle options Zipcar currently offers, and will help our members further reduce their environmental impact by driving on electricity only,” said Jeremy Nelson, general manager of Zipcar Portland.

The electric cars are open to all Zipcar members ages 21 and older for rates starting at $10.25 per hour.

PSU was Zipcar’s first choice because of its environmental attitude with ventures such as its Electric Avenue with automotive charging stations on campus.

Zipcar members who reserve the Honda Fit EVs will be able to access ECOtality's Blink Network of charging stations around the city. The EVs contain a Blink InCard that allows renters to use Blink Network’s charging stations like gasoline cards in other Zipcar vehicles.
