by: COURTESY OF WLPD - West Linn police say a 34-year-old man was seriously injured when he apparently jumped in front of his Pontiac Grand Am late Wednesday night.A 34-year-old former West Linn man was critically injured Wednesday night when he jumped into front of a car on Willamette Drive, apparently trying to commit suicide.

West Linn police spokesperson Mike Francis said Brian R. Stewart was in critical condition at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland. Stewart's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, according to Francis.

The incident happened at about 10:40 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, in the 19100 block of Willamette Drive. Police said Stewart, formerly of West Linn, was acting erratically and made statements about committing suicide when he jumped in front of a northbound 2005 Pontiac Grand Am driven by a 17-year-old West Linn girl.

The girl was not injured and cooperated in the police investigation into the incident. She did not appear to be intoxicated or driving erratically, police said, and was not cited for the incident.
