by: COURTESY OF HILLSBORO FIRE DEPARTMENT - About two dozen firefighters from Hillsboro and Cornelius contained an early morning blaze Tuesday to the exterior of a Hillsboro restaurant.An early morning fire damaged the exterior of Aroma Mexican Restaurant on Southeast Oak Street in Hillsboro Tuesday.

An employee of a nearby Winco grocery store reported the fire at about 5 a.m. Dec. 24. When Hillsboro firefighters from Station No. 1 arrived, they found flames on the back corner of the building extending to the roof. Hillsbor firefighters, assisted by a crew from Cornelius, extinguished the fire and entered the building to check for fire inside.

The fire was contained to the outside of the building, only moderate smoke was found inside. Firefighters set up fans to clear the smoke from the interior.

Investigators are looking for a cause of the fire. The amount of damage is still being calculated.
