by: MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Aphinity Marday Jumping BullA suspected drunken driver pulled a U-turn in front of Portland police car early Saturday morning, causing an accident and attempting to flee before being arrested.

Aphinity Marday Jumping Bull, 25, is charged with DUII, Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver (Hit and Run), Reckless Driving, Driving While Revoked, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Attempt to Elude by Vehicle, and two counts of Assault in the Third Degree.

A 25-year-old male passenger in Jumping Bull's car was identified and released at the scene. Both he and Jumping Bull refused medical attention.

According to police, at 3:18 a.m. on Feb. 15, North Precinct officers were responding to a disturbance call and were traveling westbound on North Lombard Street approaching Commercial Avenue when a car traveling in front of them pulled a U-turn, causing a collision with the patrol car.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Impala, attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle after the crash but only made it to North Kerby Avenue before the vehicle became completely disabled. The driver, later identified as Jumping Bill, got out of the car and started to walk away but was taken into custody.
