Portland Streetcar hires first full time executive director
Portland Streetcar has hired its first full time executive director.
Dan Bower comes from the City of Portlands Bureau of Transportation, where he was the Division Manager of Active Transportation. He is a graduate of Gonzaga University and holds a Masters in Urban Planning from Portland State University.
Bower replaces Rick Gustafson, who worked as executive director and chief operating officer under contract. Gustafson has worked for the Shiels Obletz Johnsen consulting firm since its formation in 1995.
Bower's hiring was announced by Portland Streetcar's Board of Directors on Wednesday. Bower, who was chosen after a national search, was approved at the board meeting earlier in the day.
We are very fortunate to have found such a qualified new leader for PSI and Portland Streetcar, said Board Chair Jim Mark. "We are confident that Dan has the knowledge, passion and leadership skills to lead Portland Streetcar as it continues to grow.
Portland Streetcar, Inc. is the nonprofit organization tasked with operating the Portland Streetcar system in Portland, Oregon. PSI was formed in 1995 and has overseen design, construction, and operations of the Portland Streetcar under contract with the City of Portland.
Bower will officially join PSI on March 24, 2014.
