Two female pedestrians were struck and injured by a hit and run driver while crossing the street in Southeast Portland Wednesday evening.

The names of the 71 and 76-year old women were not immediately released. They were transported to an area hospital with traumatic injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

According to police, at about 1:40 p.m. on March 12, officers responded to a call of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle at Southeast 80th Avenue and Powell Boulevard. The investigation revealed they were struck by a silver or grey late 1990's Dodge Caravan believed to have been driven by a white female with a heavy build who has blond hair and is approximately 50 years of age. The vehicle may dents in the front end and a broken passenger side windshield.
