by: MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Bradley WyattPolice arrested a man on asault and other charges early Sunday after a long standoff at a North Portland house.

Bradley Wyatt, 39, is charged with Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of Methadone, and Menacing. He is accused of striking his step-father in the head with a machete, causing serious but not life-threatening injuries.

According to police, at 8:27 p.m. on June 14, North Precinct officers responded to a residence in the 10200 block of North Midway Avenue to investigate a reported domestic violence incident. When the officers arrived and made contact with the male suspect, he refused to come outside and talk to police.

The Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded to assist the officers in safely resolving the situation. He surrendered after overnight negotiations.
