Two officers injured in patrol car collision
Two Portland police officers were injured early Friday morning in a collision involving patrol cars driving to an emergency call in a North Portland apartment complex.
The officers were taken to a local hospital for treatment of what police said were minor injuries. The officers' names were not released. No one else was involved in the collision.
Police said that two patrol cars were dispatched at about 4:40 a.m. to an assault in progress at the complex in the 4200 block of North Alaska Street. At the intersection of North Willis Boulevard and North Haven Avenue, the two patrol cars collided, heavily damaging both vehicles and a parked car.
The intersection will be briefly closed during the crash investigation.
The police bureau's Traffic Division will investigate the crash.
Other officers were dispatched to the assault call and determined that it was just an argument.
