Suspects elude police after assaulting man inside home
Police responded to the home invasion around 4 p.m. in the 4900 block of Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard, according to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau.
The injured victim told responding officers he thought the intruders were still inside the house — but phone calls to the residence and amplified shouts from outside produced no response.
An eventual search of the house by a K9 unit turned up empty.
"Based on information learned during the preliminary investigation, it is not believed there is an immediate risk to the community," a news release reports.
The adult male victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds.
Police closed Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard to vehicle and pedestrian traffic between Southeast Raymond Street and Southeast Schiller Street while the incident unfolded.
Police say the investigation continues, and say anyone with information should call the Portland Police Bureau's non-emergency line at 503-823-3333.
