UPDATE: Deceased victim in crash identified, police determine that no third person was involved.

KOIN 6 NEWS - First responders find crashed Honda down embankment off Southeast Foster Road.One person was killed and another one was injured in single-vehicle crash on Southeast Foster Road early Monday.

The person killed in the crash has been identified as the passenger, James Carrol Freeman, 16.

The driver, who suffered serious injuries, has not yet been identified. Although he had a blood alcohol content of .126, well over the legal limit, he has not been charged. Police say charges are expected as the investigation continues, however.

Responding officers were originalaly concerned there may have been a third person involved in the crash, but learned through the investigation there were only two.

This is the 10th fatal crash this year.

According to police, at 1:15 a.m. on April 9, East Precinct officers responded to the report of a crash in the 14700 block of Southeast Foster Road.

When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene, they located a crashed black Honda sedan down an embankment on the north side of Foster. Arriving officers also contacted an adult male on the road suffering from what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

As officers investigated the crashed Honda, they located an adult male pinned under the vehicle. Emergency medical personnel provided medical aid to the man, but determined that he was deceased.

The adult male that officers contacted on Foster was transported to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

Based on preliminary information, officers believe the black Honda sedan, with at least two occupants, was driving westbound on Southeast Foster Road when it left the roadway and crashed down the embankment. Both the deceased male located underneath the vehicle and the male contacted on Southeast Foster Road are believed to be occupants of the vehicle.

Officers also learned that there may have been a third occupant of the Honda that left the scene after the crash. A neighborhood search for a third person was conducted with the assistance of a canine team, but did not immediately find anyone.
