King city community fund-raises for police
The King City Community Foundation will host King City Police Appreciation events throughout the month of August.
From 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday and Sunday of the month, the foundation will have a table set up at the King City Starbucks, with blank thank-you cards and pens and crayons to fill them out with. The Foundation also will be selling "I (Heart) King City" buttons for $1 each.
"All of the money raised will go to getting gift cards for the King City Police to purchase items needed for a break room," said Jaimie Fender, president and founder of the foundation. "We will also place donation jars and thank you card collection boxes around King City."
Fender said Boy Scout Troupe No. 799 will partner with the foundation on these appreciation efforts, and that local Girl Scout Troupe No. 12805 likely will participate as well.
