by: DAVID F. ASHTON - S.E. Woodstock Boulevard was closed off for a time, after gusty wind brought down a tree limb across a power line, damaging the car underneath, on May 13.The unusually gusty windstorm that blew through Inner Southeast Portland on Monday, May 13th, toppled a couple of trees – including one that took down power lines in the 6300 block of S.E. Woodstock Boulevard.

While most of the stately tree withstood the gusts, a substantial branch ripped off and fell across the road – and smashed out the rear window of a red SAAB, unluckily parked next to it.

Nathan Ekerson was on his cell phone when THE BEE arrived. “I’m trying to get a hold of my brother-in-law. He and my sister are in California, and are coming back this evening.”

Other than the busted-out window, the car didn’t appear to be badly damaged. No one was injured in the mishap, and PGE responded to repair the lines and restore the power.
