by: RITA A. LEONARD - Canada geese provided 50 shades of grey at Westmoreland Park.By November, autumn colors had finally hit their stride, in the gardens, parks, and neighborhood streets of Inner Southeast Portland.

Purple beauty berries and orchid-colored echinacea flowers clustered close to the ground, while red, orange and yellow leaves provided highlights in surprising places.

Children gathered bouquets of colored leaves, while adults bent to the task of raking.

Between fall showers, mild and mellow sunny days were perfect for brisk walks to enjoy the special scenery.

Squirrels bustled, wild geese gathered, and folks hustled to weatherize homes and put their gardens to bed.
