by: DAVID F. ASHTON - Ready to serve popcorn to an outdoor movie crowd are CHS Cheerleaders Maren Reid, Dakota Fredrich, and Emily and Sara Draghia. At many of the Portland Parks & Recreation “Movies in the Park” this summer, including the showing of “E.T. – the Extra Terrestrial” at Sundae in the Park in Sellwood, members of the Cleveland High School Warriors Cheerleaders were present with their portable popcorn stand.

“With funding cuts, we need to raise funds for our activities,” explained parent Debbie Draghia.

All of the cheerleaders helped out at least two of the events during the season – preparing, bagging, and serving the popcorn into the evening hours, Draghia said. “We’ve also helped out at the Portland Marathon, and at the Race for the Cure.”
