Police said a man had walked into the Scappoose Municipal Courthouse, which shares the building with city hall offices and the police department, and said the cooler he carried contained a bomb. He said he'd already disarmed the bomb.

The OSP bomb squad arrived not long after 5 p.m. Scappoose Police Chief Doug Greisen said they planned to X-ray the ice cooler and then blow it up.

Police questioned the man, but nothing further is known at this time.

The scare happened about the same time students were being let out of school and headed home, many walking close by Scappoose City Hall located at 33568 E. Columbia Ave.

An exclusion zone was established around City Hall and included the closing of nearby streets and businesses. The scare also disrupted normal CC Rider routes from Portland.

UPDATED! New information received about Tuesday's bomb threat. Police questioning man believed to be involved with threat.
