by: SPOTLIGHT PHOTO: ROBIN JOHNSON - Scappoose Middle School students in Sally Mills' homeroom class spent their afternoon Wednesday, March 5, in the rain tearing, digging and clipping invasive blackberries from a riparian zone along South Scappoose Creek in Creekview Park. Mills said students wanted to find a project that would benefit the community and eventually partnered with the Scappoose Bay Watershed Council for the effort. 'We will be heading back out in about a month to plant native plants in the hopes of creating a more diverse habitat for organisms within the riparian ecosystem,' Mills said.
