Helicopter crash on Sauvie Island leaves one seriously injured Tuesday evening

One person was hospitalized with serious injuries Tuesday evening, after a helicopter crash on Sauvie Island.

Multnomah County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene of the crash Tuesday evening around 5 p.m.

KOIN 6, Pamplin Media Group's media partner, reported Tuesday that the tail number on the aircraft, a Robinson 22 Beta, belonged to the Hillsboro Aero Academy

The crash happened on private property on Northwest Oak Island Road at Sauvie Island, according to MCSO.

The Sheriff's Office confirmed one man, who was conscious and breathing after the crash, was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

One person was entrapped in the aircraft Tuesday, according to Oregon State Police. OSP arrived on scene to assist MCSO.

Few details were available immediately following the incident Tuesday.

As of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, MCSO did not have any additional information about the pilot's condition.
