Jennifer Stackhouse, previous instructor with Gresham-Barlow School District, to start in July

StackhouseOtto Petersen Elementary School will have a new principal starting in July.

The Scappoose School District announced this week that Jennifer Stackhouse has been selected for

the role beginning July 1.

Stackhouse has a doctorate degree from George Fox University. She previously spent four years with the Gresham-Barlow School District as a response to intervention, or RTI, coordinator. In that role, she helped 11 elementary and four middle schools implement the RTI program.

RTI is used to help identify areas where students need help in the classroom and provide learning support for them in reading and math. The program has been used in the Scappoose School District for several years.

"Dr. Stackhouse has excellent skills in coaching teachers in instructional strategies, leading teams in the important work that we do in education and working with students and families who have experienced trauma," a press release from the Scappoose School District stated.

Stackhouse also previously taught first through third grade in the Beaverton School District, and third and fifth grade in the David Douglas School District.

According to her personal website, Stackhouse also has a background in teaching dance. She lives in Southeast Portland with her husband and two children, enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and is a member of a dragon boat paddling team.
