Ross MunroSt. Helens High School senior Ross Munro has been selected as the Elks Teen of the Month for April.

Munro was selected for the award based on his academic achievements and involvement in school activities.

In the classroom, teachers describe Munro as a leader and thinker who often asks questions that get more students involved in conversations and discussions, a press release from the district explained.

Outside of the classroom, Munro is involved in school leadership. He worked to create video announcements for the school during his senior year, which highlighted his creativity and knowledge of video production, the press release added.

"Ross has also done a great job in the classroom as a leader and thinker. "Ross made quite an impact through his participation."

Munro is also active in choir, the school's film club, and is involved in track, swimming and cross country.

As an athlete, Munro received two athlete of the month awards in swimming and cross country.

"His friends in those sports talk about his willingness to work hard and to be a great team mate, someone who was supportive and pushed you to greater heights," the release added.

When Munro was notified he had been selected for the award, he was appreciative.

"I am honored to be selected. I feel this is a culmination of many years of work and I

am happy to receive the award," Munro noted in the release.

In his free time, Munro enjoys swimming, movies and music.

After high school, Munro plans to attend Portland State University or Oregon State University. He hopes to pursue a degree in advertising.
