Four killed in car crash on Highway 30 west of Clatskanie
UPDATED 6/4/18: Oregon State Police and other emergency crews are investigating a crash on Highway 30 that killed four people, and sent seven others to the hospital on Friday, June 1.
A preliminary investigation by OSP revealed that a 2008 Honda minivan was traveling westbound on Highway 30 when the driver attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Cliffton Road. The minivan was struck by a Ford F450 pickup truck towing an empty horse trailer.
Eight people were in the minivan at the time of the crash, four of whom were killed. The passengers who were killed were identified as Yun Hee Lee, 44, of Gig Harbor, Washington; Soon Ja Lim, 71, of South Korea; Jung Hee Lee, 39, of South Korea; and a juvenile male, of Gig Harbor, Washington.
Three passengers were transported to Portland area hospitals by Life Flight and one passenger was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. They were identified as Yong Gi Kim, 45, of Gig Harbor, Washington, who was driving the van; Yoon Kyung Lee, 42, of South Korea; a juvenile male from South Korea; and a juvenile female from Gig Harbor, Washington.
Three passengers who were in the pickup truck were also transported to area hospitals.
The driver of the truck was identified as Stevie R. Smith, 21, of Roy, Washington. The passengers in the truck were identified as Charlie A. Dockings, 25, of Roy, Washington; and a juvenile male from Roy.
The crash was reported near milepost 75 on Highway 30, approximately five miles from the Columbia-Clatsop county line, roughly 14 miles west of Clatskanie.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing As of 2:45 p.m. Friday, both lanes of the highway were reopened.
