No students hurt in crash; driver of semi-truck taken to hospital for minor injuries

UPDATED: Emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle crash in Rainier involving a semi-truck and a school bus Monday morning, June 4.

Columbia River Fire and Rescue crews responded to the call Monday regarding the crash on Apiary Road near Simmons Road in Rainier.

The school bus was transporting students of various ages for the Rainier School District, CRFR Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer Motherway stated. Eleven students and the driver were on the school bus when the crash occurred.

Deputies from the Columbia County Sheriiff's Office and Oregon State Police were dispatched to the crash which was reported just before 7:30 a.m. along with CRFR fire personel.

The school bus was at the intersection of Simmons Road making a turn onto Apiary, when it collided with the semi truck that was traveling on Apiary Road, according to information from CCSO Lt. Brian Pixley.

No one on the bus was injured. Following the crash, one student was picked up by a parent, while the other 10 students were rerouted and taken to school.

The driver of the semi-truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were town from the scene.
