Kyle Jarred Wroblewski back in custody, facing contempt of court violations

Wroblewski UPDATED 8/13/18: A former St. Helens teacher facing charges of sexual abuse of a minor is back in custody after violating his conditional release agreement, according to information from the Columbia County District Attorney's office.

Court documents and Columbia County Sheriff's Office records show that Kyle Jarred Wroblewski, 44, of St. Helens, is currently in custody and being held on new charges of contempt of court.

Wroblewski, who was a teacher and coach at St. Helens High School, was arrested on criminal charges after St. Helens Police Department officers received a tip about an inappropriate relationship between the man and a 17-year-old girl in May. In early July, Wroblewski was arraigned on 32 counts of second-degree sexual abuse, two counts of first-degree official misconduct, and one count of contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor, after a grand jury heard the case on July 3.

At the time of the arraignment in July, Columbia County District Attorney Jeff Auxier requested the court review a conditional release that was granted to Wroblewski given new information he might have violated the release, Auxier explained.

Earlier this week on Aug. 8, Auxier stated that he believed Wroblewski committed new crimes while on release, had contact with the victim, came within 500 feet of the high school campus, and might be a flight risk due to a conversation over a series of text messages, court records indicate.

As of Friday, Aug. 10, Wroblewski was being held with bail set at $20,250.

On Friday afternoon, representatives from the school district stated in an emailed press release that Wroblewksi "is no longer a district employee, and he will not be returning in the fall."

Representatives from the district did not clarify when Wroblewski was terminated from the district stating they could not comment on personnel matters or ongoing investigations.
